About Los Peques Spanish Immersion Daycare
Our History
Los Peques started as a home service for close friends and family in April 2015 but became a licensed business in November 2020. We started as a family childcare but are now expanding into a childcare center thanks to our families and support.
Our Mission
At Los Peques Learning Center, we believe in the value and uniqueness of each child we serve. Our childcare experience is designed to promote each child’s own individual social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. As educators, we strive to teach children a second language in a Spanish Immersion environment. As caregivers and educators, our mission is to provide a safe and appropriate learning environment.
Our Philosophy
Our program is built around the concept that children are born ready to learn. As caregivers, we strive to create a learning environment that is safe, stimulating, and encouraging. The following principles serve as the foundation for our curriculum.
Children develop knowledge of their world through active interactions with caregivers, peers, materials, and events.
Learning is sequential, building on prior understandings and experiences.
Learning proceeds at different rates in each area and each child; children will show a range of skills and understandings in any one area of development.
Learning in each area is interconnected. Young children learn best through experiences, which incorporate several
areas of development.
Learning is embedded in a culture. Children learn best when their learning activities are rooted in a familiar cultural context.
Learning begins in the family, continues in early care and education settings, and depends on parental involvement
and caregiver guidance.
Meet the Owner
Martha Patricia Cardona
Hello, my name is Martha Patricia Cardona, but everyone calls me Patty. I love working with children and teaching them another language in Spanish. I have been working with kids for over 16 years and have loved my experience. I first started working in centers but when my first grandson was born I decided to start working from home because I remember how difficult it was for me when searching for someone to take care of my own children. I began by taking care of my grandson and then came family friends and then slowly started to grow through references. As I continued to grow and receive caring support from the families I have worked with I decided to take the next step in pursuing the career I love by licensing Los Peques and becoming a professional childcare service. Los Peques has been licensed for 4 years now and thanks to the children and families I care for I have the opportunity to open a center. I love the work I do and appreciate the families I have met over the years, I am extremely grateful for how far I have come and hope I can make a difference in people's lives. I'm excited to build on Los Peques to provide special experiences for our kiddos, connect with new families in our area, and get to know each one of our Los Peques families!
